30 years
For more than thirty years, I have worked alongside leaders from just beyond the spotlight, observing at close range the subtle patterns of power and influence that shape real decisions. Titles were never allowed to impress me; my attention was always drawn to the meaning behind words, the phrasing, tone, hesitation, and, just as importantly, what remained unsaid.Fifteen of those years were spent in close service to senior executives across academia, government, regulatory bodies, health systems, social services, and private enterprise. In those environments I learned that leadership success rarely depends on credentials alone. Technical ability matters, but the factors that determine whether a leader ultimately succeeds are more human: trust, credibility, loyalty, and the willingness of others to follow. I have seen executives surround themselves with loyalists who lacked skill, and highly skilled technicians who inspired no loyalty at all. Both situations fail, just in different ways.That understanding now informs my work in executive search. Identifying the right candidate is not simply a matter of matching qualifications to a job description. It requires understanding how individuals actually operate within complex organizations and whether they will be trusted, supported, and followed by the people they must lead. Clients value this perspective because it moves beyond recruitment based solely on credentials and toward a deeper alignment between leader, organization, and context.Absolute confidentiality remains foundational to everything I do.
